This is a well-known scam to illegally take control of your computer and fleece it of banking passwords etc.. They will claim that your computer is infected with a virus and that you must do as they say in order to remove it. This is a lie. Please read this article from June 2011 edition of PC Pro ... Cold-Caller PC Scam
If you have been a victim of this scam, call me immediately so that I can ensure your PC is secure against the unseen 'backdoor' access created when you followed the cold-caller's instructions - otherwise you face the risk of losing important emails and have your private information/passwords compromised on an ongoing basis.

About Me ... I was born in 1966 and grew up in Howe Bridge, Atherton. After achieving an 'O' Level in Computer Studies at Leigh CofE High School I went on to Leigh College where I successfully gained an 'A' Level in Computer Science. That was back in 1984. Since then I have had my hands (and head) in computers. I learned my craft the hard way - in the days when computer component connections had to be doused with methylated spirits to keep them from furring up. You might say, I grew up with DOS in the days before Windows had been invented - so there's not much I don't know about fixing PCs.
